The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act of 2016 was passed by Parliament of India and came into force on May 1, 2017. The purpose of this law is to protect the interests of investors of real estate and specifically home buyers. Provisions of this law provides a legal mechanism for swift dispute resolution and timely completion of projects, improvement in quality of buildings, and to make the process transparent and accountable.
