The information technology law was enacted in consonance with the resolution of the United Nations to ensure protection of data and digital technology against cybercrimes. According to the preamble, the purpose of the law is to (a) secure legal approval of transactions made by electronic data exchange and other electronic communications, commonly referred to as "e-commerce".
